Research materials on pulsars, 1973-1976.

Audio recordings, notes, and transcripts. Consists of interviews with thirty-nine physicists, astronomers, and radio astronomers involved in the discovery and subsequent work on pulsars. These interviews were conducted in connection with Woolgar's thesis entitled: The emergence and growth of research areas in science with special reference to research on pulsars. The longest interviews are with S. Jocelyn Bell, Geoffrey Burbidge,R.D. Davies, Edward J. Groth, James E. Gunn, Richard N. Henriksen, Anthony Hewish, Michael Kesteven, A.G. Lyne, Jeremiah P. Ostriker, F. Graham Smith, Kip S. Thorne, and Sachiko Tsuruta. Three interviews were not taped; only four tape-recorded interviews were transcribed.
